Albert Y. Ng

Albert Y. Ng, 78, Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and civic leader passed away on January 6th, 2013 in Torrance, California from a heart attack. He was born on Oct. 1, 1934 in Guangdong, China. Albert graduated from UCLA in 1960 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He worked for the City of Torrance, retiring in 1997 as the Assistant City Manager after 37 years of public service.

Albert loved to sing, dance, eat well, travel and spend time with his family and friends. Albert was also an avid golfer, snow skier and active in the community.

In addition to serving as city liaison to Torrance Unified School District and Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, staff liaison to the City Council's ad hoc Citizen Development and Enrichment and Armed Forces Parade committees; Albert served on the Boards of Directors of the UCLA Asian Pacific Alumni Association, American Heart Association, Volunteer Center, and Torrance Federal Credit Union. He also volunteered his time to several organizations – to name just a couple, Albert was a charter member and past president of the Central City Optimist Club and a host facilitator for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games; he was also a member of the Bread of Life Church congregation.

He is survived by his loving wife Jean Ng, son Dr. Nolan Ng and granddaughter Lauren Ng, son Ronald Ng, daughter-in-law Jenny Ng, daughter Linda Ng, and son-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Ha.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 19th, 10am, Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in honor of Albert Y. Ng.
