Albert A. "Sonny" Duboise, age 84 of East Hampstead, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont, NH.
Sonny was born on May 23, 1931 in Portsmouth, NH the son of the late Alphonse and Annie (Beaudoin) Dubois.
Sonny served his country in the U.S. Army from 1948 – 1952. He served during the Korean War and was an "Atomic Soldier". He was stationed on the Eniwetok Atoll nuclear proving grounds in the Pacific, during the testing of atomic bombs. He was honorably discharged.
Prior to his service in the U.S. Army, Sonny had worked with his father as a lumberjack. Following his time in the service, he worked for a local car dealership, delivering recently purchased or serviced cars to their owners. He worked as a sidewall installer during the 1950's and 60's and joined the Local 111 Carpenter's Union in 1969 and had 35 years of service. Sonny was the owner of Pine Tree Door, and was a joint partner with Robert Letoile in D & L builders. Sonny was very proud to have been an auxiliary police officer in Hampstead, NH for many years. He was a member of the Carl Davis American Legion Post 34 in Plaistow, NH.
Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Reina A. (Desrosiers) Dubois of East Hampstead, NH. His daughters; Susan A. Ordway and husband, Roger of East Hampstead, NH, Gail C. Remediz and husband, Thomas of Grand Prairie, TX, Debra A. Demaine and husband, Douglas of Tamworth, NH and Marilyn J. Carlson and husband, Jay of Huntsville, AL. His son, Albert A. Dubois, Jr. and wife, Pamela of Hampstead, NH. His sisters; Jean Bradish and husband, Joseph of East Hampstead, NH, Rose Whitney of Methuen, MA, Louise Mitchell of Haverhill, MA and Helen Cody and husband, Russell of Methuen, MA. His brothers; Joseph Dubois and wife, Christine of Manchester, NH, Robert "Bobby" Dubois of Port Charlotte, FL., Alphonse "Butchy" Dubois, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Spring Hill, FL. 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Sonny was pre-deceased by his sisters; Yvette A. Ghedoni and Victoria Legault.
Friends and family are invited to attend Sonny's Life Celebration on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 4 – 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Burial with Army Military Honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead, NH.
