Aida Reyes, born on July 13, 1944, in Manila, Philippines, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Brea, California, after a six-year battle with dementia. Aida spent the final 14 years of her life in a board and care facility, where she was lovingly cared for and surrounded by her cherished memories.
Aida's professional journey began with her significant contributions to Kaiser Permanente in Bellflower, where she worked from 1978 until 1999. It was a calling that allowed her to embody the caring and compassionate spirit for which she was known.
Educationally, Aida was a proud graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, earning her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1966. This foundation propelled her into a dedicated career in nursing, where her kindness and good-willed nature shone brightly.
Those who knew Aida can recall her joyous personality. She was welcoming and always greeted others with a smile. Her love for cooking, dining, and hosting celebrations underscored her vibrant spirit; she was indeed a true foodie at heart. Aida relished the moments spent with family, particularly the joy of gathering around the dinner table, sharing stories, and celebrating life.
A devout Catholic, Aida held her faith close to her heart throughout her life, and she was devoted to her family. Her proudest accomplishments included her migration to the United States, raising her children with unwavering love, and nurturing a close-knit family.
Aida is survived by her beloved husband, Carlos Reyes; her daughters, Aileen Reyes and Melanie Reyes-Yamanashi, along with her sons-in-law, Christopher English and Nikko Yamanashi; and her son, Carl Reyes and her grandchildren: Alik Amoranto, Aerial Amoranto, Jaidan Reyes, Melanie English, Zhaylee Yamanashi, Aaron Jeffrey and Bebe Vincente. She is also remembered fondly by her sister, Cristina Tejidor, and her brother, Polly Antonio.
Aida was preceded in death by her father, Roman Antonio; her mother, Severina Antonio; her sisters Lucia David, Norma Montoya, and Carmencita Reyes; and her brother, Genaro Antonio. The legacy that Aida leaves behind is one filled with warmth, love, and cherished memories.
Visitation services will be held at Forest Lawn - Cypress - Hope Chapel, located at 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA, on December 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place at Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church at 5201 Evergreen Avenue, Cypress, CA, on December 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM, concluding at 11:30 AM. Internment to follow at Forest Lawn.
Aida Reyes will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
