Agustin Jimenez Patlan was born on Monday April 27, 1959 in a humble ranch in Rancho De Cabras in Guanajuato, Mexico. He was the fourth of eight children. At the young age of 18, he left his home in Mexico City and made the long arduous journey to the United States of America in search of a better life. He settled in Glendale, CA where he rolled up his sleeves and got right to work quickly honing multiple skills and trades.
As fate would have it, only three years later he met the love of his life, Felicitas Machuca at a friend's party in Glassell Park, CA. They met through mutual friends and ended up dating for five years before finally deciding to tie the knot on February 23, 1985. They had two children soon after and became homeowners in 1989. They had one more child and raised all three of them in a small two bedroom home in East Los Angeles. They didn't have much but were very proud of being able to give their kids what they didn't have growing up - a childhood! Both of them worked full time jobs before they were even 10 years old.
He did things his way and made darn sure it was done right and always finished what he started. Yeah, he was stubborn. You couldn't find no quit within any inch of his body. He was a strapping mountain of a man. His feats of strength were only rivaled by his humble character and honor. He was a man of his word. If he made a promise, it was always kept. He knew how to ruffle the feathers of those closest to him. Those of us who've felt the wrath of his stubborn nature know that he did everything in good faith and absolute honesty. To his kids, he was the one who dealt the discipline and if you're old enough to have experienced real parenting, you know a belt works for more than holding up your jeans.
Yes sir, he did a fine job helping raise his three children as well as his niece whom he loved like a daughter. He kept them out of trouble and on the straight and narrow.
He was and always will be an amazing man. A man with absolute honor, integrity, courage and commitment to everything he did. He loved his brothers and sister and did everything he could for each and every one of them.
His hobbies and passion was always with classic cars and trucks. His idea of a fun weekend was spinning wrenches at the junkyard scavenging odds and ends he could use to build his rides. Not even the rain could keep him away and in fact, he said it was the best time to find the good stuff.
He was also a handyman and took pride in building things and fixing his house with his own bare hands. There wasn't anything he couldn't do. He even dabbled in upholstery in his final days and finished reupholstering his seat on his trusty Toyota pickup truck. He worked every day of his life all the way to the end the way a real man would.
He is survived by his wife FelÃcitas, three children Agui, Yesenia and Isabel, his two grandchildren Dallas and Peyton Kleiser whom he adored like no one else and his beloved kitten Harley. He is also survived by his mother MarÃa Enriqueta Patlan as well as his siblings Pedro, Jaime, Fernando, Estela and Javier.
In memory of "mi Apá" Agustin Jimenez, "mi abuelito" Jose Alberto Jimenez Huerta and "mi tÃo" Francisco "Pancho" Jimenez and his baby sister Amelita Jimenez.
