Obituary

Adolfo Jorge Caceres—known to many as Jorge, or “El Colorado”—was born in Córdoba, Argentina, in December 1940 to Maria Luisa and Fausto. He was the fifth of nine children, raised in a humble home.

The family’s move to Buenos Aires opened the door to a brighter path. As a teenager,  the family was introduced to the Seventh-day Adventist faith through a neighbor. God’s promises and message of salvation captivated him and ignited a lifelong desire to study the Bible.

From an early age, Jorge was caring, strong-willed, and hard-working. As a teen, he looked out for his mother and siblings, attending school in Buenos Aires while also working odd jobs. He took pride in being a devoted son and brother—and soon became a provider for his family.

As a young man, Jorge was baptized at La Iglesia de Florida in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From that moment on, he devoted his life to Jesus and sought to share his faith whenever he could. He continued working tirelessly to support his mother and siblings, and the family ran a busy shoemaking shop from the back of their home.

Jorge began his required military service but was later honorably discharged due to an injury. He returned to steady work and faithful church attendance. After years of friendship, his relationship with Norma grew into something more; they began dating and soon decided to marry.

In February 1969, Norma and Jorge married. Their honeymoon was the first time they had flown, and it brought them to the U.S. After arriving at LAX, they made their way to Tucson, Arizona, where they stayed with their cousin. Within a week, Jorge found work at an auto body shop specializing in fiberglass. In time, the Arizona heat became too much, and they chose to move to California. There, they found a Seventh-day Adventist Argentinian community in Southern California and planted their roots in Glendale, CA.

Before long, Michelle was born, and Jorge continued building his career in auto body shops. Always looking for new opportunities, he eventually purchased the Glendale shop where he worked and renamed it SDA Auto Body Shop.

Five years after Michelle, Marshia was born, completing their family. Jorge’s hard work paid off as both daughters graduated from college and went on to build careers and families of their own. His only grandson, Julian, brought him great joy—along with shared adventures and a love of cars.

Jorge was a business owner who approached life with courage. He believed deeply that his faith would carry him and his family through any challenge. Beyond the body shop, he was also an entrepreneur who invested in new ideas and start-up businesses. He enjoyed traveling, technology, mechanics, building and creating—always looking for ways to learn and expand his horizons. Many remember he was often the first to try new technologies and futuristic gadgets, from video cameras and CD players to cell phones, fax machines, video games, and Segways. Even at 84, he embraced new experiences, including owning a Tesla. He treasured music, nature, family, and the friendships he built over a lifetime. Through hard work and determination, he achieved the goals he set for himself and those he loved.

Jorge devoted himself to providing for his family and being present with them. He was an active member of the Glendale Spanish SDA church for more than 50 years, holding several leadership roles and leading many improvement projects in various SDA churches. Above all, he loved studying the Bible and sharing the blessings of God’s promises.

In 2022, Jorge and Norma moved to Riverside County and embraced the relaxing pace of their senior community. They especially enjoyed weekly outings with close friends.

Although his earthly journey has ended, we hold to the promise of our Lord that we will see him again. That promise gives us strength, reminding us this is not the end.

Jorge is survived by his wife, Norma, daughters Michelle and Marshia, grandson Julian, sons-in-law Roderic and Sasha, sister Estela, brothers Roberto and Hector, and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. His spirit, love, wisdom and amazing memories—will live in our hearts forever. Until we meet again- Pops, Dad, Esposo, Tio, Hermano, Amigo Querido.
