Adele Mallin, a beloved educator and cherished family member, passed away on September 24, 2024 in Palm Desert, California, at the age of 93. She was surrounded by family who loved her deeply and will miss her considerably.
Born on May 25, 1931, Adele grew up with a zest for life that remained with her throughout her years. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, where she also received her teaching credential. Her passion for teaching led her to Walter Reed Junior High School in North Hollywood, where she taught drama and English. Throughout her career, she earned a great following among her students, many of whom expressed their gratitude for the profound impact she had on their lives, even years after they left her classroom. Her students participated in numerous competitive performances, often bringing home first place under her guidance. Adele herself was recognized with the 2nd place Blue Ribbon award from the Music Center, competing against all teachers in the arts in the Los Angeles School District.
Adele was known for her outgoing personality. She loved to talk, enjoyed spending time with friends, and would always be up for a party. Her interests extended to a deep appreciation for the arts; she loved the opera, concerts, plays, and movies. In her younger days, she also found joy in playing tennis and bowling.
Her legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her spouse, Susan Armstrong; her son, Josh Mallin; her daughter, Erica Mallin and her daughter-in-law Gina Mallin; her son-in-law, Joe Shuster; her grandchildren, Zara Sedore-Mallin, Elyse Sedore-Mallin, Alon Mallin, Esther Mallin, and Eli Mallin; and six great-grandchildren.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Leon Saul, and her brother, David Saul.
A funeral service will be held on September 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Cathedral City - Ramon Chapel, located at 69855 Ramon Road, Cathedral City, CA 92234. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Adele's remarkable life and the lasting impact she has had on so many.
