Ada V. Ford of Henderson Nevada, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 18th, 2024. Born Ada Violeta Diaz Dall’Orto on April 23rd, 1946, in Lima, Peru she had a Catholic upbringing and received her bachelor’s degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Del Peru. She loved being a high school teacher and spoke of it often. In 1972 she moved to Glendale, California where she would then marry James Ford, her husband of nearly fifty years. Glendale is where they shared their lives and raised their only daughter. She was also blessed to inherit a large, beautiful family, The Ford Family. Ada learned English quickly and ended up working for the Southern California Gas Company until her retirement. Ada and her daughter were officially Naturalized as American citizens on August 15th, 1980, and it was a very proud day. To be close to her daughter and grandchildren, Ada and Jim left Glendale and moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1999 where they bought a house and started their retirement. Ada beat cancer and survived a successful kidney transplant. Ada was known for being a social butterfly and always stayed in contact with all her friends and family and doctors. She loved painting with watercolor and collecting antiques. Ada loved to listen to Pavarotti at full blast and would welcome anyone into her home. She will be missed by so many.
Ada is survived by her daughter, Ursula A. DeMangus (Peter); grandsons, Robert James and Simon Ross DeMangus; Numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Ada is preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Ford, her brother Jose “Pepe” Diaz, her parents Jose Antonio and Violeta Diaz.
A special “Thank You” to Jewel of the Desert (group home) in Las Vegas for embracing my mother with love and caring for her like a friend and family member.
She will be interred at Forest Lawn of Hollywood Hills and a service will be held on October 1st.
