Haverhill, MA: A. Edward Cesati, Jr., 67, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died on November 24, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Arthur E. and Helen (Stepanchuk) Cesati, he attended Haverhill public schools and graduated from Haverhill Trade School with the Class of 1965.
Mr. Cesati served in the United States Army as a corpsman during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Marksman Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4. Following his honorable discharge, Mr. Cesati went on to graduate from Northern Essex Community College and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Salem State College.
He was first employed at Raytheon Company and was later employed at Sanders Associates of Nahua, which ultimately became B.A.E, from where he retired as Senior Graphic Artist after more than thirty years. Mr. Cesati also taught engineering drawing at North Shore Regional Technical High School in Beverly and at North Shore Community College for over ten years.
A member of All Saints Parish, Mr. Cesati was an accomplished artist in oils, watercolor, and charcoal. He also enjoyed walking, swimming, camping, and fishing. A mainly self-taught guitarist, he most enjoyed spending time with his family in Maine and at Seabrook Beach.
He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Geri (Heymans) Cesati, a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher P. and Kimberly Cesati of North Andover, two daughters, Janelle A. Pinti and her husband Harry Pinti, Jr. of Haverhill, and Rachael L. Cesati of Haverhill, five grandchildren, Zackary Cesati, Brendan Cesati, Harry Pinti, III, Isabel Pinti, and Mason Pinti, a sister-in-law, Judith Cesati of Atkinson, NH, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Victor P. Cesati and Robert E. Cesati.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Cesati's Life Celebration on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
